It’s rare, but I’ve been asked what a typical day in my life consists of. Well, it may not seem super exciting to most of the world, but I’m loving life and I have some big plans in the near and distant future. Anyways, on with the show… I’ll just describe today and what’s happened on thus far…
6:20 – Alarm clock #1!!!! My response?? Snooooozzzzzzeeee…
6:29, 6:38, 6:47, 6:50, 6:56 – Alarm clock #2-6. Ok, time to tackle this last day of work for the week.
6:56 – iPhone time for about 10 minutes then stretch and head to the bathroom.
7:09 – Get dressed, brush my teeth, grab my breakfast/snacks/lunch (that I made last night), kiss the girlfriend (Samantha for any new viewers), and head out the door.
7:25 – Pull the old Subaru Legacy out of the garage and drive 25ish miles to work. A half hour full of anger trying to find something on the radio to fit my tastes. (Before the end of the month, I’m definitely buying a new JVC headunit from Crutchfield!) This includes 92.9, 94.5, 95.3, 102.9, 103.9, and 104.7. And for the record, I really do hate talk radio and a bunch of commentary junk. I thought I was getting into it for a few days when I first bought this all wheel drive monster with a vintage audio setup, but I was lying to myself. Just give me some hair metal or some dope beats. Plain and simple.
7:57 – Get to work, walk up to my desk, and clock in right at 8am. Then settle in: hang my coat up, get my breakfast out, put my snacks in my desk, put my lunch in the fridge, fill up my water bottle, check my email, etc… Today’s breakfast was some Kroger cinnamon toast cereal.
8:00-10:30 – Do work. Time for a chocolate and oats fiber bar and more water.
10:45-1:30 – More work. Most of the work I do at my job (AM Leonard) is updating a couple ecommerce sites (amleo.com and gardenersedge.com). Mostly Photoshop image work, CSS, and HTML stuff. I also do some email marketing design & coding, catalog layout, product photography, and more. Getting to listen to music on my phone all day is a plus. Sometimes the work gets very repetitive and some Pandora does wonders being injected into my ear. Just one. I still have to be able to hear what’s going on around me and have awesome conversations with my co-works. Working with two of my college classmates is another bonus!
1:30 – I clock out for my thirty minute lunch break. I head down the stairs to the breakroom and sit quietly alone at a table. On the menu today, we had a couple pieces of fiber/whole wheat bread stuck together with some crunchy peanut butter and grape jelly. For a side item, a cup of no sugar added applesauce, then a couple of Andes mint cookies for a “dessert”. I basically chow down on this hungry man style meal while surfing the web on my phone. The time flies so I’m back upstairs clocking back in before I know it.
2:00-4:30 – I finish out my work day/week, I have some Reduced Fat Cheez-Its (I just googled how to spell that. I’m hardcore about spelling.), some more water, then I’m out! 4:30 on the dot.
4:32 – I’m rolling out of the parking lot and it’s back on the highway on the road home, The Wenger Estate. Had to make a pitstop at my mom’s first.
5:30 – After a long week of work, me and Sammy were ready for some Mexican cuisine. Of course our drug of choice is the local cantina by the name of El Caz. It’s epic! It was time for a bunch of chips/salsa, a few beef soft tacos with a bunch of habanero sauce, and more H2O to extinguish the fire. She went off the radar and ordered some burritos covered in sour cream. Aka… vomit. At least she redeemed herself with a large mug-o-beer.
7:00 – We are back home for beers, dessert, reruns on Netflix, and just relaxation to the max. Just us, Leo the cat, and the comfy leather couch. Ok, ok… we are watching old episodes of the Hills. You know, a guilty pleasure. But hey, somehow it inspired me to write this random blog post. And a few card games, nothing much. We like the simple life.
Well, that’s a bout it. Although I’m sure if you follow me on Facebook and Twitter, you probably knew all this anyways. Until next time, be sure to leave me comments on how a typical day in your life is. And repost this blog or my site in general on all your social networks. Thanks for reading.
