One of my friends mentioned there was a new shop nearby that had a cruise-in every Friday night. I wasn’t doing anything so I said, sure, I’ll check it out. A few of us made the 10 minute drive and joined a handful of hot rods and muscle cars. I told the owner I wasn’t sure what time the cruise-in was because I couldn’t find any info online. He said that was just one of the reasons they needed a site ASAP.
After talking in person a couple times and sending some emails back and forth, I decided to make this a real clean and simple site. I think it has a classy and sophisticated feel to it. I was able to recreate their logo easily since I had the same font that was on their business card.
I chose to build this site on the Genesis platform as I liked the idea of their framework and I was dying to try it on a site. This was the perfect candidate. It’s super easy to update and there is a ton of ways to customize it with several widgetized areas. Only a couple are being used right now, but the room is there when the company is ready to expand in the future.
Using neutral tones throughout a site with strong photography makes the photos stand out in my mind. And their work is the main reason people are going to their site. They do everything from hot rods to lifted trucks, old classics, donks, and more. Of course I have a contact page on there, but really, that was another main thing they needed. A website with their contact info! No one knew how to get a hold of them prior to this site.
My thoughts on Genesis… I have used it on a couple other smaller sites, but I have grown to love another site that has a ton of themes with more variety. I know I’ll use it again in the future for clean/simple sites, and the Wicked Whips site is a great example of it in use!
