Internet Marketing Blog Leads to Addiction

internet marketing blog leads to addiction image

Everyone has addictions. Whether it’s chocolate, reality shows, gambling, heroin, or whatever, we all have at least one. If you read my last post about why WordPress is amazing, then you know that’s one of mine. Have you guessed what my newest one is? I’ll give you a hint… it’s not meth.

At the beginning of this year, something clicked on in my brain and I found a new passion: Internet Marketing. I’m talking about SEO, affiliate marketing, creating niche sites, blogging, etc… It all started when I randomly stumbled across Corbett Barr’s website where he shows people how to build a thriving online business that helps them pursue their dreams. In one of his posts, he explains how he turned $3,000 into $128,000. It was very helpful to see what eBooks and educational courses he purchased and implemented, especially since I’m basically a newbie in this industry. And I really had no idea who he was nor did I know who any of the people were that he was mentioning.

I’m ready to move to Cloud City

One of the books he talked about was Cloud Living by Glen Allsopp. Corbett went on to create a niche-focused site that earned him over $1,100, and he still earns passive income through it today! That right there seemed easily attainable and not like those scams you hear like “Make a million dollars by breathing and drinking water!!! Buy now!!!” So I jumped on over to pluginid.com and read all about it. For $37, I said, “What the hell, why not? Everyone else seems to be raving about it on all the other sites I’ve been coming across.”

After I paid for it and instantly received it through a download link, I quickly skimmed over it and planned on reading a little bit every day. But I blew through all 176 pages in about 16 hours! The publication contained a ton of amazing tips and tricks for creating mini niche sites and blogs. I was hooked and there was no turning back. I soon found out that Glen sold that site and now runs ViperChill, where he explains his expert viral marketing strategies. He also has an online Cloud Living video course with the same info as the eBook, but probably more updated, and a huge discussion section where people ask questions and learn even more. I kind of wish I found this first, but oh well.

Work hard, then sit back and collect the checks

Shortly after, I found Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income website, and I began reading all of his valuable info too. One thing I love about Pat’s site are his monthly income reports where he posts up all of his passive income sources and how much revenue each generates. This is another reason I felt this was something I could learn and see real results after implementing all of their proven strategies. Obviously passive income is something everyone would love to have. Even the Wikipedia definition makes is sound badass: “An income received on a regular basis, with little effort required to maintain it.” I must say, Corbett, Glen, and Pat are my idols right now. They are truly living the dream and this is the kind of life I’m aiming for.

Stay focused on living the dream

But will it happen in a year or two like it happened for them? Maybe, but I’m not going to give my hopes up. I want to make huge goals, but I also want to stick to a strict plan with tasks I know I can complete so I don’t get totally burned out or lose focus. I think if I went at this with a get rich quick mindset, I’d be pissed off when the 5-figure monthly income wasn’t rolling in with little to no work. I know this is going to take a lot of hard work but I’m ready for it. So stay tuned, and I’d definitely recommend subscribing because it’s going to get insanely interesting around here real soon. And please share your comments below. I’d love to hear your thoughts, as would the readers. Any advice you have, tips/tricks, or just to say hello. Thanks again for reading! Cheers!

    Randy,

Thanks for the mention, and I’m glad you’re not addicted to anything crazy like drugs or alcohol – but yeah I know what you mean about being addicted to IM blogs. I went through a phase where I was reading content online for 3 or 4 hours a day, for a few weeks, until I realized that I wasn’t actually getting anything done. When I figured that out, I was definitely inspired and ready to make things happen though.

Cheers, and all the best to you!

Great to see you on here Pat! I have read more in the past 2 months than I think I have ever read in my life. I’m almost on information overload!

But just yesterday I built a site and it’s live right now. I am working hard at making it content rich and then working on getting it to rank high. It’s a great feeling to actually take action with this new found passion rather than just sit back and read about it all day. Now I’m super motivated! Cheers!

I’m a big fan of Pat’s website but his income is hardly passive. Maybe one day.

Thanks for your comment Todd. I believe Pat puts in a lot of work up front and then lets the websites work for him. I know his main site probably gets most of his attention so he probably doesn’t spend too much time on the smaller niche sites or affiliate programs.

But I would also say he has a strong following and it’s probably a lot easier to market to those people as they believe in him and have seen his results. I think he explains things very well, seems down to Earth, and is genuinely honest. All of these qualities have to contribute to success. Cheers!

    Hey Todd,

Thanks for your comment and your opinion, that’s something that actually a lot of people tell me, and it’s totally understandable why people think that way.

Randy is right, I have a lot of businesses that are working for me, that I hardly put any time into but still bring in an income. For example, my LEED exam website – I don’t spend any time on it except the occasional email. Earning $4k to 6k a month for less than 30 minutes of work seems pretty passive to me. Even the security guard training website that you may know about from the niche site duel – I haven’t added any content or done any backlinking for the past two month, but my income has grown to over $400 a month form that one particular site.

My blog, which is where most people know me from, definitely takes a lot of work to upkeep, but even then, I’m NOT tied to having to put in hours to earn an income. I can literally stop what I’m doing and I have the ability to continually earn an income for a very long time.

And that’s the beauty of passive income. Todd, if you’d like to discuss this more, I would love to. Please feel free to skype me at patflynn3.

Cheers, and thanks again for the mention, Randy.

    All the best!

  4. Is it not inspiring? Oh yes, I wanna get there where you are going. :)
